The Rough Trail Bubbly 225F is a floating popper made to create surface commotion rather than a quiet baitfish glide.
The cupped face is the important part: it grabs water on the pull, throws splash, and gives predators something noisy and obvious to track.
Use sharp pops when fish are aggressive, or slower bloops with longer pauses when they are following but not hitting.
The pause matters with poppers because a lot of strikes come just after the splash, when the lure is sitting still and looking vulnerable.
It is strongest around bait balls, reef edges, current lines, whitewater, and low-light feeding windows.
It is not the first choice for calm ultra-clear water with spooky fish, but when you need to call fish up, a surface popper is hard to ignore.
TARGET SPECIES: tuna, GT, kingfish, yellowtail, mahi-mahi, trevally, queenfish, bluefish, and other pelagic predators feeding on larger bait.
