The weight gives casting authority, while the surface action creates a clear target when fish are hunting bait high in the water column.
Use hard sweeps or sharp pops when fish are active, then pause so following fish can line it up.
In rough water, stronger rod work helps the lure stay visible; in calmer water, shorter pops and longer pauses can look more natural.
It is strongest around bait balls, current edges, reef points, FADs, rock ledges, and open-water surface feeds.
It is not a deep jigging lure; if fish are marked deep and not rising, switch to metal first.
The baitfish-style finish is better in clear to lightly stained water, especially when predators are already feeding by sight on similar forage.
